A grey-brown, cylindrical spider with distinctive white tail, the white-tailed spider is 1 - 2 cm long.

It is important to remove these spiders from the home when found as their bite can be very painful, sometimes developing into ulceration. (this may be caused by bacterium growing in the open wound)
